Canada is faring badly in environmental opinion polls again, and we may be headed for yet another Colossal Fossil Award at the UN Climate Change Conference in Durban.
Most of the derision focuses on the Alberta Oilsands, which critics refer to as Tarsands that "produce the world’s dirtiest oil.’
They may be right, but I think if we paid higher carbon taxes we could pay for whatever research it takes to clean up this energy source. And this would be far better than going to war in the Middle East as a way to make sure we have enough oil to last us until alternate energy sources are viable.
In the meantime, I thought I’d present this ‘blot on the landscape’ as a ‘cleaned up’ semi-abstract design. BTW, I also believe in clean coal (well, cleanish coal) and I may paint something about that as well.
